In Colombia, women without jobs are drawn to the burgeoning cam industry. The country’s many studios offer equipment, training, a space to work and promotion to models who lack the privacy or technology needed to stream their shows at home. They also get a behind the scenes support system from webcam “monitors” (aka advisors). As Rest of the World reports, these employees spend their days offering guidance during a show, adjusting cameras or computer connections, and reminding the models to take a break.

The work can be lucrative: a single hour of streaming on an adult website can earn a model anywhere from $30 to $300. But some studios are reportedly exploiting the women they employ. Models say they endure unhygienic conditions, 18-hour shifts and pressure to perform sexual acts that can be psychologically traumatizing or physically painful. They also face extortion from men who use the platform to buy services from the models.

One woman whose name has been withheld to protect her identity says she worked at a studio called AJ Studios. She says she was lured into the business with promises of a steady income and a good reputation. But after five months of working in the studio, she’s still waiting to receive a single paycheck. She’s now in debt, living off her credit cards, and struggling to raise her three children.

Other models tell CNN they were tricked into the industry by people who pretended to be employers. They’re now in a cycle of debt, stress and loneliness. And some have lost their homes or family members to extortion and murder.

For some, camming is just a way to make ends meet. Others find the lifestyle attractive because they can set their own hours. And for those who are naturally alluring, it can be a great way to earn money from the adoration of men.

There’s no shortage of hot colombian camgirls. Chubby girls like AshleysWest have a knack for stimulating stiff cocks, while pervy brunettes such as luna_love1 adore teasing the nips with clamps. Regardless of the size of a woman’s breasts, a good Colombian cam girl is sure to draw a lot of male attention.

While it’s not ideal to rely on such a petty form of employment, it can be a decent way for women with few other options to make some extra cash and feel good about themselves. But, for many women in Colombia, the exploitation of the camming industry is simply too much. They can’t afford to go to school and are trapped in an industry that is rife with corruption and exploitation. For some, their lives have become so miserable that they turn to sex trafficking for help. Often, their passports are confiscated and they can’t leave. This leaves them vulnerable to the many studios that offer sex work in exchange for money. In many cases, the studios are run by Westerners who treat their performers like slaves. Despite this, the sexwork cam industry has seen growth in Colombia during the pandemic.
